Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world! They are native to South America and are often described as a giant, tailless guinea pig. Capybaras are semi-aquatic animals, often found near bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and swamps. They have webbed feet which make them excellent swimmers.
They grow to about 1.2 m (4 feet) in length, stand about 0.6 m (2 feet) tall, and can weigh between 35 to 79 kg (77 to 143 pounds).
They are strict herbivores that consume mostly grasses and aquatic plants, eating up to 3 kg (6 to 8 pounds) of vegetation a day.
